COVID Assessment Centre

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

The COVID Assessment Centre (CAC) is an outpatient department dedicated to assessing and collecting nasopharyngeal swabs on patients referred by primary care or public health to STEGH. The RPN will work closely with a physician to assess, swab and educate patients referred to the CAC. The RPN collaborates with the physician in patient situations that are beyond the RPN scope of practice .

HOURS:

Must be available for 11.25 and 7.5 hour tours, and other tours as assigned by the hospital, 24 hour rotation, seven (7) days per week. 

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

• Registered Practical Nurse, currently registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and able to practice at full scope;
• Current BCLS required
• Ability to critically think, set priorities, and organize working in response to a busy constantly changing environment.

• Ability to communicate effectively, professionally and compassionately with patients and their families;
• Ability to work collaboratively and respectfully with multi-disciplinary team members to ensure an excellent patient care experience.

• Basic computer skills (email, Cerner, Electronic Patient Record)
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position
• Excellent Performance and Attendance Record
