POSITION: Materials Distribution Assistant

DEPARTMENT: Materials Management

SALARY: $23.45- $23.70

 

POSITION DESCRIPTION: 

The Materials Distribution Assistant is responsible for maintaining adequate inventory levels of essential supplies. In addition, this position is responsible to receive deliveries of hospital equipment, supplies and distribute stock and non-stock products to departments. Responsibilities also include delivery and pick up of items specific to external needs.

HOURS:

The successful candidate must be available to work all tours applicable to the department. In addition, this position must be flexible to occasional changes in hours when required to meet the operational needs of the department and be able to commit to the non-availability standards outlined in the Collective Agreement.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Ontario Secondary School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Preference will be given to those with a minimum of two (2) years’ materials management hospital experience 
  • Current Lift-Tow Operations Certificate preferred
  • Transportation of Dangerous Goods Certificate preferred
  • Physical ability to perform the duties of the job including lifting up to 50lbs consistently, repetitive movements, bending, turning, kneeling, pushing, pulling, etc
  • Working knowledge of medical/surgical supplies inventory control preferred
  • Working knowledge of inventory control, purchasing  and receiving preferred 
  • Experience with HMMS ordering is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize workload and perform duties with minimal supervision
  • Demonstrated computer knowledge and experience including accurate data entry skills; familiarity with Medi-Solutions software preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both verbal and written
  • Written communication and numerical skills suitable for recording, processing orders and basic mathematical calculations
  • Demonstrated effective interpersonal skills
  • Sound knowledge of WHMIS and CSA regulations
  • Demonstrated previous performance reflective of the Mission, Vision, Values and Code of Conduct of STEGH.
  • Demonstrated dependable attendance record in accordance with STEGH’s Attendance at Work program.

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work. Any candidate entering the facility to attend an interview will be required to provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status. To be considered fully immunized, individuals need to have received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days earlier than the date they are arriving to an interview or to begin work at STEGH.
