POSITION: REGISTERED NURSE

UNIT: WOMEN'S AND CHILDREN'S PROGRAM

STATUS: REGULAR PART TIME (A)

SALARY: $34.24 - $49.02


POSITION DESCRIPTION:  

The Women & Children’s Program is a multi-focused, special care area that provides patient and family centered care to expectant women, pediatric patients, well newborns, newborns who require special care and their families in in-patient and out-patient settings.


HOURS:

Must be available for 7.50 and 11.25-hour day, night, weekend and statutory holiday tours, and other tours assigned by the hospital. In addition, the successful candidate must be available on a pre-determined basis for at least four (4) tours per bi-weekly pay period, and either one (1) weekend in two (2) or three (3) weekends in six (6).


SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 

  • Registered Nurse currently registered and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario is required;
  • Able to meet the core competencies to perform general RN duties independently;
  • Maternal/newborn/pediatric nursing experience within the last three (3) years preferred;
  • Thorough understanding and commitment to Patient and Family Centered Care principles and ability to use in practice;
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate is required;
  • Current Neonatal Resuscitation Program Certificate is required;
  • Fetal Health Surveillance certification is preferred;
  • Preference will be given to the candidate who is able to meet the core competencies to independently work in Pediatrics and Labour/Delivery and/or Special Care Nursery;
  • Demonstrated problem solving, critical thinking, decision making and conflict resolution skills and able to work through conflicts and differences in a respectful manner;
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members to ensure an excellent patient care experience;
  • Demonstrated knowledge and commitment to patient and staff safety;
  • Ability to adapt and work within a constantly changing environment;
  • Demonstrated commitment to ongoing/continuous professional development through the completion of recent course work;
  • Excellent attendance record in accordance with STEGH’s Attendance at Work Program.

Successful candidates must provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status prior to your first day of work. Any candidate entering the facility to attend an interview will be required to provide evidence of a fully completed COVID-19 vaccination status. To be considered fully immunized, individuals need to have received their second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine at least 14 days earlier than the date they are arriving to an interview or to begin work at STEGH.
